Numbers Straight from the Source: 11,500 apps & 36,000 developers

Brandon Watson, Senior Director for the Windows Phone Program and champion to WP developers, posted an article entitled "A Year Later--The Windows Phone 7 Numbers That Matter" on the Windows Phone Developer Blog and boy is it a doozy. Of course, the 'one year' is actually set from the time they presented at MIX '10 until now instead of the hardware launch, but it still works. At the end of the article, Watson teases the promise of MIX '11 (on April 12th) fleshing out the details behind their impressive 2011 MWC Mango presentation from earlier this year.

I'll break the big ones down for you simply and you can check out the rest of the article at the source link below.
  • 1.5 Million downloads of the Windows Phone Developer Tools
  • 36,000 Official AppHub-registered Developers for Windows Phone
  • 11,500 Applications in the Windows Phone Marketplace (Lite Apps & Repeated Translations of Apps Not Counted!)
  • 1,200 Developers Joining AppHub Weekly. That's enormous!

  • 1.8 Days for App Certification to Process (on average)
  • 62% of Apps Pass Certification on First Attempt
  • 44% of All Paid Apps Include Free Trials
