As much fun as it is to make fun of hipsters, Tumblr is becoming a legitimate blogging platform and social network. It'll take some time before everyone and your grandmother's ghost are using it, but it shows a ton of promise. If you already have a Tumblr, you were probably wondering how you'd be able to blog on it from your Windows Phone. Well we're happy to report that Ad Astra Software's TumbleBee should assist you with that.
TumbleBee is the first Tumblr client for Windows Phone. Read and manage your dashboard posts (supports "like/unlike", "reblog", "edit" and "delete") and post new content from your phone, including pictures from your camera or Pictures hub.
TumbleBee now includes auto-suggest on all text boxes, easier navigation within text boxes, fixes a dashboard read problem some people were having and corrects some rendering problems. Also, if you tap on a post's blog title in the dashboard you will be brought to a screen viewing only that person's posts.
New in v1.5: You can choose "Advanced Post Options" in the Settings page to allow you to Add to Queue, Post on Date, Send to Twitter and add Tags to each post.
We're recent converts to the service ourselves, but we mostly use it as a beefed-up Twitter client more than anything else (we'll never leave you, Blogger). But we have to admit that Tumblr is on to something and how quickly its popularity is increasing is promising. TumbleBee has done an excellent job preserving the look of the Dashboard while also making it intuitive with a dialed down Metro look. We think it's going to get the job done just fine, so if you're interested go see it in the Marketplace by clicking on the tile below.
(Quick Note: It looks like the Marketplace has mistakenly kept the name of the app as WPTumblr despite the developer claiming to have renamed it to TumbleBee. So in the Marketplace you will see WPTumblr but after installing the app you will see TumbleBee. Confusing, right?)
