Will the ChevronWP7 Updater Block Future Updates? Microsoft Thinks So.

Yesterday came word from the developer scene that Chris Walsh had made a ChevronWP7 Updater that would force any phone's NoDo update. It was by far the easiest way to get your hands on the update, but now according to The::Unwired, Microsoft is saying you're better off avoiding that tool.
"According to Microsoft, the use of ChevronWP7.Updater could possibly put the updated Windows Phone 7 device into a state where it cannot receive future regular updates to the OS anymore and the only fix will be re-flashing the device with an original stock ROM. At the end of the day if could mean that such Windows Phone 7 devices have to be send to the manufacturers or carriers service centers because unlike for Windows Mobile, stock ROMs are officially not available as a public download for end-users."
For more users who carried over from Windows Mobile or moved from Android and are comfortable with flashing ROMs, this may not seem like such a big deal. But for those who aren't exactly technologically savvy or didn't want to have to deal with hacking trickery (which was sort of the point of the tool in the first place) then you may want to consider rolling back and waiting.
